Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times While not exactly uncharted documentary territory, the Iraq conflict is thought-provokingly portrayed in "Mosul." Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Daniel Gorman In Review Online Not content to be merely a competent action-thriller, but too ham-fisted to score the emotional points it so desperately wants, Mosul winds up being neither here nor there. Jun 5, 2021 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film [E]mbedded Iraqi journalist Ali Maula acts as our guide and his musings on the situation in his homeland give this film an editorial and contextual anchor that will help viewers less familiar with the day-to-day socio-politics of Iraq. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 30, 2019 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It is harrowing, but if you can stomach it, it's an extraordinary thing to sit through. Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Adam Mock Film Inquiry Mosul thrusts the audience into its world with unwavering relentlessness while allowing ample time to reflect. Gritty, powerful and honest, the film begs to be experienced, discussed, and remembered. May 14, 2019 Full Review Laura DeMarco Cleveland Plain Dealer The powerful documentary is comprised of combat footage and raw interviews taken by Iraqi journalist, Ali Maula from October 2016 to August 2017. John H It is rare I watch a non-English movie, but I was excited when I saw this. I have spent a lot of time in that part of the world, so the chance to watch a movie from their POV couldn't be passed up. I was not disappointed. While I don't know the actual facts (the movie is based on a "true story"), the movie turned out not to be about nations, or armies, but about family and honor. I loved it. It shows how those fighting for what was right couldn't trust anyone, not even (or especially not) their own countrymen. This movie has me exploring more international content, looking for stories that I would otherwise not see. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome. Gripping and emotional Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Because it's a war movie you don't need to focus on reading the subtitles so much bc there is plenty of excitement. When words are spoken they are riveting and serve the story well. Truly an amazing story and great movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review harsh c Haven't seen it. My review of the movie went here by mistake and it's not possible to remove a review. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review avindu g Death lurks in rubble what moves bring trouble. Scent of fear and smell of rott fills the air in this land of despair. But a special legion roam this land assumed dead and lost in sand. They bring hope they bring love They are the soldiers of lord above. A tale of extraordinary bravery and ultimate sacrifice. The story of those special people who stayed back who stood in-between. The ones who maintain the balance ; the avengers. This one is a true story of war !!
