Critics Consensus

Mother of the Bride serves an oft-overlooked demographic and takes us to crystalline beaches before it ceremonially drowns in generic waters.

Robert Levin Newsday It's an hour-and-a-half that feels like a decade, so you're left desperately searching for something to end the misery. Rated: 0/4 May 21, 2024 Full Review Marah Eakin Chicago Reader Netflix’s newest rom-com is middling and mindless. May 13, 2024 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) The film's match-making subtlety, let's say, is some way short of Jane Austen level. Rated: 2/5 May 9, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A shallow escapist pic that I couldn't escape from until it ended. Rated: C- Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...weary identikit romcom will probably generate the requisite clicks...fairly harmless, fairly inoffensive, remarkably bland fare, for couch potatoes who can’t be bothered watching an actual film, and that seems to be partly what Netflix cater for… Rated: 2/5 Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Susan Granger SSG Syndicate This flimsy, forgettable rom-com is populated by superficially 'pretty people' - bland, underdeveloped stereotypes - and each shallow, awkward scene is more predictable than the one preceding it. G P I don’t get the really low audience score. The film is what you assume it will be. Light-hearted, fun, predictable and an easy watch. Whether you want something to take your mind off life or have it in the background as you do something else, it does what it’s supposed to do. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Julie M What the actual fuj! End of the movie threw me off. In what in the Alabama is going on. Parents of the bride and groom married each other??? So your mom is your step mom and your step dad is also father in law?! What a dumb movie. ZERO STAR!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Christian S Just tried way too hard on satisfying folks who would not watch this movie in the first place... it had potential. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Mark B This is just bad. Not a character I liked or cared about. Not funny. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Julian S A mindless film elevated by a seasoned supporting cast, who are the sole reason to give it any attention. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Neeraj K what kind of twisted fruck porn industry mentality movie Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
