Claire Nichols (Helen Shaver) runs a truckstop and motel in a rural northwestern town with the help of her two teenage daughters, the studious and sensitive Laura (Perrey Reeves) and the wild and rebellious Toni (Marcianne Warman). Though the sisters are different in many ways -- Toni, especially, dreams of leaving their sleepy small town -- they're also very protective of each other, a fact soon learned by a team of land developers intent on pushing the family out of their business and home.
