What to Know

Critics Consensus

A star-studded turkey, Movie 43 is loaded with gleefully offensive and often scatological gags, but it's largely bereft of laughs.

Francesca Steele Independent (UK) This is a film so utterly devoid of laughs that it makes one wonder whether Hollywood stars really are feeling the pinch too. Aug 10, 2017 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com There is not a single redeeming quality to this absurdly inane film. Rated: F Apr 17, 2015 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Despite all the gross-out humor, the most offensive thing about this is the lazy filmmaking; every shot feels like a first take, and the haphazard editing precludes any comic timing. Feb 4, 2013 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com My first 'F' of 2013! Rated: 0/4.0 Sep 17, 2020 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org By the end you can't entirely be sure whether you have watched a film or participated in a eulogy for the careers of its participants. Rated: 0.5/4 May 9, 2019 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal There is even money on a man with a gun just outside the frame at any given moment here ... except in "Happy Birthday," where Gerard Butler looks legitimately elated and excited to portray a pair of foul-mouthed, genital-mutilating leprechauns. Traian P I am not surprised that many people can't understand this movie. It hides a complex network of emerging realities that more than 10 years later are proven facts of life. The self distance effect by giving a comic dimension to our most intimate weaknesses and failures is not evident for those who have never experienced antic Greek tragedies live not TV shows. The critics of the new age are most of the time "influencers" and sales agents for "democratic approved" creations more self centered to save their position ... not to use the 3 letter word in "Don't look up" about assessment... the low level of perception is not because of the movie itself but a bad score for the society and it's "intellectual" level... unfortunately not improving at all... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Jimjam C Some serious hate going on here. I threw this one on just to have some ambient background tv while I was doing some stuff, but it caught my attention right away. Has its moments. Worth the watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Didos L I dont know why people (or critics) hate it so much! It was one of the funniest movies I have watched! I can understand that it can be offensive to some people but its funny all the way! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Jeff S I've never seen a 5% rating before- and with that stellar cast? Too tempting. I had to see it. This'll be a cult classic many years from now. See it now and avoid the rush. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review Francis M Just bad in a bad way. The only impressive thing is how they got everyone to agree to it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Ben P Absolutely hilarious. Top 5 best comedies in the past 20 years. Anyone the says last has a terrible since of humor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
