What to Know

Critics Consensus

A star-studded turkey, Movie 43 is loaded with gleefully offensive and often scatological gags, but it's largely bereft of laughs.

Francesca Steele Independent (UK) This is a film so utterly devoid of laughs that it makes one wonder whether Hollywood stars really are feeling the pinch too. Aug 10, 2017 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com There is not a single redeeming quality to this absurdly inane film. Rated: F Apr 17, 2015 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Despite all the gross-out humor, the most offensive thing about this is the lazy filmmaking; every shot feels like a first take, and the haphazard editing precludes any comic timing. Feb 4, 2013 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com My first 'F' of 2013! Rated: 0/4.0 Sep 17, 2020 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org By the end you can't entirely be sure whether you have watched a film or participated in a eulogy for the careers of its participants. Rated: 0.5/4 May 9, 2019 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal There is even money on a man with a gun just outside the frame at any given moment here ... except in "Happy Birthday," where Gerard Butler looks legitimately elated and excited to portray a pair of foul-mouthed, genital-mutilating leprechauns. Chris M Just watched it for the first time in 2024. It's completely stupid, but we laughed almost the entire time. Try not to look up the cast ahead of time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Susan R Well acted, well directed, and the most deeply offensive comedy I've ever seen. It's like a bunch of filmmakers were inspired by the joke "The Aristocrats" and said, "but what if we filmed it?" If you feel that the most tasteless jokes in South Park or American Dad or Ren and Stimpy weren't tasteless enough or if your favorite Peter Jackson movie is "Meet the Feebles" this movie will probably be just your speed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review danny s Hilarious, but you gotta get stoned first Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/13/24 Full Review Devin V I can watch this stupid movie over and over. Is this movie about something? No Is it very commercial? No Is it smart? No Does it have heart? 😂 It has mine Is it anything like "The Help"? No. except for the fact that it had Emma Stone. Does it have Hugh Jackman with balls attached to his chin. Absolutely! Enough said. That's the whole point. It's not meant to be a good movie. But it's one of my favorites 10 years ago it was the entire reason I got a Vudu account Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/24 Full Review Dzeralt z What the fuck did I just watch xD That's what happens when you take a cheap, amateur movie, but instead of amateur actors, you hire professionals :D Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Robert Austin E I thought it was funny. The last segment is my favorite Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews
