Tom Denning (John Mills) is a well-to-do airline manufacturer, but also an overly protective father to his daughter, Liz (Eileen Moore). When he finds out about her new boyfriend Mados (Herbert Lom) and his questionable past, Tom wants to end the relationship, resulting in a confrontation that leads to Mados' accidental death. Fearing the worst, Tom tries to cover up this tragic mishap, and it seems to be working, until the his conscience finally starts to catch up to him.
