See more 10/01/2018 Surprisingly good movie. Well cast and interesting "true" story. Worth watching. See more 08/03/2014 More than worth the $3 I paid for it at a dollar general. It's a nice true & feel good story. See more 07/07/2013 Not bad for a Hallmark Channel movie. Of course there's a bias here... 3/5 See more 05/09/2013 One great hockey movie! The story of a father who comes out of retirement to play hockey on a line with his two sons is a sentimental an entertaining movie. There is a Rocky theme where Gordie has to get back into shape, make the team, try to win a scoring championship, and the Avco Cup, while being called too old. Shanks' portrayal of Gordie as the wise hockey player, family man and father creates a character the audience relates with. The comedy is great one finds out that the Oggi Olgerthorp character name from the infamous movie Slapshot got his name coined for Gordie.A well written and directed movie. I give Mr Hockey three pucks out of five. Hey a hat trick! Mr Hockey shoots and scores. See more Read all reviews
