Jacob B This animated short film from France is, as TV Tropes succinctly put it, sweet but conventional. The steampunk aesthetic looks fine albeit desaturated, the character animation on the robot dog is quite expressive and the character development the titular protagonist goes through is fine. However, it's still, at its core, a standard story about a man and his dog and while it's far from bad, I do find myself baffled that this won the Oscar for Best Animated Short over the Mickey Mouse short film that came out the same year which, even back then, I always preferred to the feature film following it thanks to its visual inventiveness. Oh well, the Academy were never known for having big brains, anyway. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Mr, Hublot is an adorable short movie - only 11min. Short but great. Tells a story of a OCD man who finds himself in a bit of trouble. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member An exploration of the habitual mind. I would have watched a much fuller developed story. Intriguing and beautiful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Mr.hublot is fantastically made animated short film!!
