Yonekichi Noro (Yunosuke Ito) is a hapless man. He's a widower and a war veteran, teaches remedial math to disinterested students and is generally overmatched by life. That doesn't stop him from going after what he wants, though, including his landlord's daughter Kanko Kanamori (Fubuki Koshiji). But Noro's mishaps continue when he's caught at a controversial political rally and subsequently fired. He then finds himself stuck working in a factory, and even further from potential happiness.
