I can only describe Mulan as a visually spectacular disappointment. Void of any emotional resonance, the film eschews coherent storytelling for what amounts to an Orientalist war epic masquerading as a feminist win for Asians everywhere.

I just watch the movie. Old version 1998 Mulan she gave herself an extremely dangerous haircut by used her dad’s sword that “borrowed “. In 2020 version they skip the screen. Many show mostly her in boot camp.. I enjoy the 1998 version Mulan . That version is funny and amazing.

Just saw this at last, and my booty was kicked! Seems to me to be perfectly cast with perfect design, technical artistry, musical score & battle choreography. Loved the acting and story, which I found not just entertaining but very moving. Nice to see Disney magic applied to a worthy project. Only sorry I didn’t get to see it in a theater.

A live-action adaptation of Disney’s Mulan is worth establishing, as it could have been faithfully executed, authentically represented, and aesthetically pleasing. However, Mulan 2020 unfortunately deviated from this path when attempting to adopt a more serious tone in reference to the historical source material. While some Disney-esque sequences involving humour and English-only dialogue for a film set in the 4th century and aiming for a serious approach were retained, the decision to remove the musical notes in favour of a more serious tone resulted in an oddly jarring disconnect. Grading: C-

So this like if you went through the events of how someone using a glass bottle as a sex toy leads to the fall of Yugoslavia, but you supply ZERO context. It's CONFUSING! Also, WHY IS THERE A SHAPE SHIFTING SCP!?!?
