      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Stylish production and an all-star ensemble keep this Murder on the Orient Express from running off the rails, even if it never quite builds up to its classic predecessor's illustrious head of steam.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Stacey L A delightful change of pace from the traditional Hollywood offering. An all star cast that does not disappoint, along with a compelling retelling of a classic story. It will be a movie I will be sure to revisit for the set and visuals alone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review User 2 That was thoroughly interesting, i watched it with a friend who already seen it and i could not guess who was the murderer.. but that ending tho was like whattt. Just a TAD Boring or slow on some scenes but it was needed information. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Benjamin H With a star-studded cast and terrific production values, this 2017 rendition of Agatha Christie's novel is skillfully directed and ties together everything nicely in the end, but it also doesn't manage to do the most of its characters and in my opinion is a little bit too tightly packed and tonally wavy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/07/24 Full Review TeXoR G Boring beginning, way too predictable as well. For having such a good cast, the movie really dissapointed me... Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader The actors here try too hard to flesh out roles that are little more than stock types. Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Jonathan Romney Film Comment Magazine [Kenneth Branagh] doesn't bring much new to the basic conception-a bunch of famous actors play eccentrics cooped up on a train, with secrets to be unearthed. But he does embellish the template with glossy extras. Mar 8, 2018 Full Review April Wolfe Village Voice There's something quaint and comforting about this film and its brand of old-fashioned storytelling, where coincidences are extremely likely, everyone somehow knows a countess, and a man puts honor above all else. Dec 1, 2017 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu In the final count, Murder on the Orient Express is lavish spectacle — not meaningless, so much as shallow. Sep 16, 2023 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia As a remake it has tiny moments with Branagh's colorful role as the new Poirot, but I'm afraid it lacks a consistent detective intrigue throughout the investigation and grows rather dull with every trace left inside the train. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Jul 30, 2023 Full Review Tony Black Cultural Conversation While this take on Murder on the Orient Express is destined to exist as a Sunday afternoon matinee picture people will throw on and bask in, there is unmistakable depth and humanity inside the confectionary of its exterior and its big-budget staging.
