Stylish production and an all-star ensemble keep this Murder on the Orient Express from running off the rails, even if it never quite builds up to its classic predecessor's illustrious head of steam.

Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader The actors here try too hard to flesh out roles that are little more than stock types. Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Jonathan Romney Film Comment Magazine [Kenneth Branagh] doesn't bring much new to the basic conception-a bunch of famous actors play eccentrics cooped up on a train, with secrets to be unearthed. But he does embellish the template with glossy extras. Mar 8, 2018 Full Review April Wolfe Village Voice There's something quaint and comforting about this film and its brand of old-fashioned storytelling, where coincidences are extremely likely, everyone somehow knows a countess, and a man puts honor above all else. Dec 1, 2017 Full Review Diana Tuova Spotlight on Film The movie tries every trick up its sleeve to divert the audiences’ attention from what is really important and intriguing here: the mystery behind the murder of Mr. Ratchett. susie Loved it! Great movie, it's entertaining! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Amir S Good movie, good cast. The film follows relatively directly what is written in Agatha Christie's book. But the film lacks the uniformity of the scenes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Wyatt E I loved it! A great cast, great visuals, beautiful landscape shots, and perhaps one of the greatest twists in history acted/shot perfectly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Alex r It has potential. As a detective movie, its got all the pieces they just need to make the mystery more complex. The detective is likeable, he pulls off the demeanor of a detective. The acting worked there was not a single bad performance. Did i guess who did it, no but i don't think anyone did. The ending dear lord what was he thinking. Its like an insult to the audience, basically saying you guessed that person well here is my middle finger to you. Having that ending to the mystery would have worked if it was him discussing a previous case he had where it ended that way. TO end the movie like that it didn't work at all. It makes the audience feel like they got cheated we wanted to guess who did it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Ted B 3.0 stars: A classic Agatha Christie novel adaptation to the screen. It comes off well in this version. However, I am a bigger fan of the 1974 film with Albert Finney in the starring role as Hercule Poirot. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Graham B A visually rich movie with a quality cast that re-tells one of the better Agatha Christie whodunnits. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
