Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times We're left with an expensively mounted movie, potentially a good one, that doesn't seem to know what to make of itself. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 5, 2005 Full Review Christopher Lloyd Sarasota Herald-Tribune Murphy's War has the bones of a great movie but forgets to add the flesh. Rated: 3/5 Mar 28, 2011 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: 2/5 Jun 17, 2005 Full Review Tony Mastroianni Cleveland Press This is one of those tales about one man against overwhelming odds and for a time it is fairly entertaining. Then, about two-thirds of the way through it starts to fall apart. Nov 20, 2003 Full Review Read all reviews

philip w A ver good action film = a good story and great scenes Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review Gezza Saw this movie in 71 when it came out at the cinema and I still remember it like yesterday when writing this review some 50 years later. Great script and story. One man against unbelievable odds - never say die attitude. Peter O'Toole gives a strong, engaging, gritty performance. If you can find it - see it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review wayne m Entertaining film where O`Toole finally gets to play a working class Irishman instead of a upper class toff. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/22 Full Review Matthew D Carefully removes everything that made the book interesting leaving it a glossy shell. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/21 Full Review delysid d this movie was really great Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/27/21 Full Review Audience Member This is a great Movie. It has a well written story and some very good acting. The revenge aspect of the plot, and the madness it forms in the main character, make for some awesome cinema. It might not be a hipsters cup of tea, but it is a good movie for action and war movie fans. The end is certainly one of the most memorable moments in movie history. Peter O'Toole delivers one of his most iconic roles ever, though it has been somewhat forgotten by the mainstream over the years.
