It's there he meets his grandparents' neighbors, the Shimerdas, an immigrant family from Bohemia. He's particularly fascinated with Antonia (Elina Lowensohn), the Shimerdas' daughter, a free spirit a few years older than Jimmy, though she seems infinitely wiser.
