Even with the distracting narration My Father and the Man in Black is a well made documentary with details about both Saul Holiff and Johnny Cash that until now were lost to the annals of time.

The strengths of this documentary lie in the story itself, and it's clear that Holiff is a natural storyteller. He is not an engaging narrator however, and his delivery is often monotone and expressionless.

I loved the film, as it gave me a real view of how people have to struggle, but they can still make it if they keep trying.I flew all the way from London Ontario to Vancouver, took a ferry to the island to see my friends film. I had already seen it in London, but it was worth a few more looks, saw it 4 more times on CityTV, twice a night. great film, and my little brother and big sister are in it for about 1 second. thanks for the memories.
