Audience Member My Own Man is not without moments of interest: David seems like a nice enough guy with clearly a point of view. Unfortunately its mostly an inherently self-involved sort of family piece with little of outside consequence for the audience to connect with. More of a tepid diary entry than a memorable film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A great film about fathers and sons and what it really means to be a man. Director and subject David Sampliner opens his life, insecurities, and fears to his audience in a way that everyone can relate to. Especially every man knows what it's like to feel not quite as adequate as other men, and My Own Man deals with this subject in a cathartic and almost therapeutic way. It's a sweet and moving film that keeps its run time short enough to never overstay its welcome. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member worthwhile viewing. Warmed to the people in this film through getting to know them Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
