Robert Levin Newsday There's no reason to bother with "My Oxford Year" unless you're a YA romance completist. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Courtney Howard Variety What should be a tender, feminist-minded story centered on a young woman rediscovering her dormant childhood dreamer turns into a middling melodrama about being with a cute guy in desperate need of her rescue. Aug 1, 2025 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal They are all very attractive people, as are Dougray Scott and Catherine McCormack as Jamie’s parents. They just aren’t given a lot to do. Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Rohan Naahar The Indian Express My Oxford Year transforms after an hour into a different beast altogether; not necessarily one that you’d signed up for. Sep 1, 2025 Full Review Sofía Aguilar LatinaMedia.Co Not only is this just sappy, bad writing... but it also sends the message that it’d be better for a disabled person to die than to live out the rest of their lives with a disability. Aug 31, 2025 Full Review James Delingpole The Spectator My Oxford Year may be a work of accidental genius, but it’s a work of genius nonetheless. You will squirm, you will laugh derisively, you will cringe. By the end, though, you will be forced to admit that you secretly enjoyed every moment. Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Celina I incredibly boring its just another badly written movie that trys to hit all the plot points without any real substance. we just hop right into this over the top romance that happend in a day and you cant care about the characters. no real substance Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/03/25 Full Review Paul L They act like this is this big romantic thing but it's just about a professor sleeping with his students. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/25 Full Review Audience Member So we're just done with the Me Too stuff? We're all okay with a professor banging his students?! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/01/25 Full Review Manya C Okay, so this extremely passionate girl flew all the way across the country just to passionately sleep with her professor? Well, wouldn’t a city like Amsterdam have been a better fit? Oxford, really? You disappointed me. Obsessed with books? HELL no! Just fancying the smell of books doesn’t make you a book lover. Reason bibliophile and bibliosmia are two terms my lady. And, with all due respect, my condolences to this little American girl for being bullied by the allegedly cocky, condescending, and conceited British society. Want some sympathy? Here I am, sympathizing with my poor girl for being treated like an outcast, aww! Baby mama’s got your back. One thing this movie did succeed in, though, is stereotyping the British. Portraying them in such a cocky manner isn’t exactly helping you guys score any higher on Rotten Tomatoes. And the ending, how can we just ignore this? Goldman who? Well, it’s a dream, so let it keep dreaming. A grand tour of Europe is definitely worth screwing up my career at, what, 22 or 23? After all, it’s just my entire future, right? And okay, sarcasm aside, my real question is: where on earth is this girl getting the money to afford a grand tour of Europe? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/25 Full Review Rotten P My Oxford Year (2025) delivers a visually charming yet emotionally uneven experience. While Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest bring warmth and sincerity to their roles, the film struggles with a predictable plot, clunky dialogue, and a problematic romantic premise that undercuts its emotional resonance. Oxford’s picturesque backdrop and heartfelt performances elevate the story, but uneven pacing and lack of originality keep it from reaching its full potential. The result is a bittersweet romantic drama that is touching in moments, but ultimately feels more comfortable than compelling. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Daniel O I wanted to watch a cliche rom-com with a couple of good looking people who fall in love, and that's exactly what I got.
