John Lui The Straits Times (Singapore) It is a weak piece because it sells the notion that civil servants deserve thanks because sometimes, they are inconvenienced by a hardship posting to the boondocks. Rated: 3/5 Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Steve It was a wonderful tour through China and Chinese culture. The stories were entertaining and warm. Really enjoyed it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/20 Full Review le w Thought it could be a propaganda movie, but it is freaking genuine and hilarious, lol. The landscape in the movie is so beautiful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member How did this subtle commentary on the loss of togetherness that was the rural towns of China, now disappearing forever, get past the censors? Comedy mixed with pathos - Shakespeare couldn't have done better. Five vignettes, each better than the previous, depict real yet exaggerated human dramas. The camera with an eye for colour, simple yet outstanding angles and framing, and a soundtrack that seemed not Chinese yet superbly appropriate. Well worth the screening fee. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Great personal stories that explore universal themes of people's connections to their hometowns and villages. A unique window to the various lands that make up China. Bring your tissues, especially for the "Teacher" segment. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
