Tom Russo Boston Globe The story and settings hold interest throughout, but at times the very lack of emotional connection that Yeshi laments in his father seems to hinder the film. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 12, 2012 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post "My Reincarnation" is a fascinating, if inexpertly told, yarn. Rated: 2/4 Dec 23, 2011 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post Buddhism teaches patience, and you're going to need it if you attempt to sit through the conciliatory bromides of the slow documentary "My Reincarnation." Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 28, 2011 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest The film's unforced nature yields more good than not, treating Namkai's brush with cancer and Yeshi's response with a quiet dignity as well as filling the film with Zen-like imagery of waves crashing at the beach and sunsets that seem wholly organic. Dec 20, 2018 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Amazing documentary that chronicles the story of the Tibetan Buddhist Master, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. Rated: A Jun 24, 2012 Full Review Marc Mohan Oregonian Even if Yeshi's dilemma never seems that urgent or vital, "My Reincarnation" remains a compelling, universal film. Rated: B Dec 8, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This is a wonderful movie. I watched it twice. It's about father and son issues, eastern and western culture, fate, spiritual growth, against the backdrop of an Italian/Tibetan family in Italy and abroad, haunting chanting, and some great Buddhism. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Being around persons like Norbu for years, including visits with Norbu, this film is exactly what I expected. It was brilliantly edited... must have been a monumental task. Thank you Jennifer Fox for making this film. This documentary shows that the essence of Tibetan Buddhism, Dzogchen, is a practice for becoming aware in modern daily life and not a practice to become conditioned by ancient traditions. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Fascinating glimpse into the life of a great Buddhist teacher and his disaffected son - the film follows Rinpoche and his son over twenty years capturing the son, Yeshi as he grows up and comes to terms with his strange heritage as a typical Italian teenager and a reincarnation of a great teacher. The film takes a completely unexpected course and is tremendously moving. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film by doc filmmaker, Jennifer Fox. My Reincarnation delves into the world of a Tibetan Buddhist Master and his relationship with his at-first resistant son, Yeshe. The movie explores East-West/Father-Son tensions in a deeply personal way. No need to be a practicing Buddhist to connect with this film.I would highly recommend checking this film out when it comes to your town!
