Richard Nilsen Arizona Republic Paula Fouce's documentary about several of these yogis gives us a kind of cinma vrit peek into their lives as they perform their rituals and prepare for the great meeting, or Kumbh Mela, of yogis in Ujjain, held in 2003. Rated: 3/5 Aug 3, 2006 Full Review Michael Booth Denver Post Does so much of what we want from documentary -- it teaches us new ways that lives can be lived. And religion or no, that always expands the spirit. Rated: 3/4 Jan 20, 2006 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe Naked in Ashes could easily provide answers but doesn't, and so it invites only unexamined faith or skepticism. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 13, 2006 Full Review Josh Bell Las Vegas Weekly With its TV-style production values and bland educational tone, Naked in Ashes might be suitable for PBS or the Discovery Channel, but it's not much of a feature film. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 29, 2006 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seattle Post-Intelligencer It idolizes the idea of spiritual purity without offering any insight into what it really means. Rated: D Dec 12, 2005 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice An edifying look at the lives and spiritual practices of twenty Hindu holy men in India who meditate, serve others and take on austerities as part of their path. Audience Member Perhaps this film failed to impress because a similar documentary, "Shortcut to Nirvana" is so amazingly wonderful. This film is more a catalogue of different yogis than an exploration of faith or mysticism. The result is long and winding with no real payoff. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very nice film that follows a story of India's yogi's. I would agree with previous poster that I would have enjoyed a more in depth view of one yogi. A great film to share with those teens/adults/anyone that seem restless and a little lost in the crowd, it will provide great conversation fodder. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting look into the world of yogi's. Not the bear :-) It dragged on some, and I would have liked the film to have gone more in depth into one or two yogis lives than the many it covered. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member [font=Arial Black]I LOVED THE MOVIE. I FELT THAT I WAS IN INDIA WITHOUT BOARDING A PLANE. IT WAS TRUELY A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.
