ãåãã¬ä»²ã, or "No Blood Relation" is a great piece of Japanese cinema of the 30's. The infatuation with Hollywood and fame, silly bumbling Japanese comedy, and the heavy drama of child abandonment. Naruse was finding his style during this time, and like Ozu, he found comfort in dramas of women. Although the movie would have been much better as a drama if the bumbling thieves were cut out, but this is a norm for many Japanese movies by having comedians in the picture, making the picture less heavy. Still happens now...

A wonderful Japanese Silent drama from the 30s that is the early work of Director Mikio Naruse, one of Japan's greatest legends. With an optional score that fits the feel and flow of the film, this is a great Silent for those looking for obscure Japanese films!
