TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 5 Natalee Holloway is a compelling true-crime drama that tells the tragic story of a young woman who disappeared during a high school trip. The film effectively balances suspense with emotional depth, showing the heartbreak and determination of Natalee’s family as they navigate the investigation. The performances are strong, with the lead and her parents delivering heartfelt portrayals that make the audience feel the grief and urgency of the situation. The screenplay, while not flawless, structures the story well, blending investigative sequences with intimate family moments, keeping viewers engaged. Direction enhances the tension, using pacing and framing to emphasize isolation and suspense. The film also highlights the challenges of international legal systems and the persistence required to seek justice. Overall, Natalee Holloway is an emotional, gripping, and respectful true-crime film that brings both human drama and procedural intrigue to the screen, making it a memorable See more Alec B @AlecMichaelB 11/14/2024 Though this mid-2000s Lifetime movie's main goal was to tell Natalee's story, the absolutely horrid acting and dialogue does her story no justice whatsoever. Centered on her mother, Beth Twitty (played by Tracy Pollan), the film follows Beth’s determined search for answers in Aruba and the intense media spotlight that followed. Unfortunately, even for TV, it falls utterly flat. Even the end credits fail to capture the true problem. Rather than addressing violence against women, the credits simply say that Beth continues to talk about "the dangers of international travel." A sure misfire on the true problem at hand. See more 05/18/2019 The movie would have been 100% better if they had another person play the mother!! Tracy Pollan is at best, a terrible actress. Her horrible acting skills brought the movie so way down! Why couldn't they have hired a more skilled actress for a delicate yet powerful role? I have seen better actresses in junior high school plays! See more 05/13/2014 I thought the movie about Natalee Holloway's disappearance was very well constructed. I believe that her story should be told in order to raise awareness for teens traveling abroad reminding them to never separate from their friends or family or leave their drink unattended. This movie serves as a very good lesson for teenage girls. The disappearance of Natalee was very accurately portrayed. I read several news articles regarding her disappearance and I think the movie adheres to the facts found in newspapers and magazines. See more 05/13/2014 Although it was a tragic thing that happened to Natalee, this television movie portrays her as so innocent, and I just don?t buy that. She certainly had more than her share of alcohol, and she could hardly be described as a sweet virgin. A mistake happened, a bad mistake, but she didn't have to go with those guys, and I believe it was her choice as it was her choice to become intoxicated and flirt. Aruba is a wonderful place, far safer than most places in the world, and the mothers ranting did so much unfair harm to the economy of Aruba. This is a very slanted and unfair account.
