Audience Member Most of the actors in this film had careers that spanned from 1986 to 1987. This was at least one year too long. Necropolis is a cool name for a film that actually features a "city of the dead". This movie doesn't really have one of those. Do you like bad dancing? This movie has a number of dance scenes. No idea why, but it does. Horror? Nope, not once. Bad, mostly off screen kills with little build up is about all you will get. Also, I hope you like that the camera works makes people appear to be fairly far away until one of them stabs out at something offscreen and the next cut shows a victim stabbed. Hilariously bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review kevin c Fifteenth century witch/succubus returns to 80's NewYork to drain the lives of the innocent and to find a sacrificial virgin. Thin plot and comical acting is enough to make this enjoyable in a cult favourite sort of way. Certainly some fun to be had. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Necropolis has some good things going for it as do most low budget horror flicks but despite all the good, this film fails thanks to the fact that nothing is really explained. You're watching a film trying to figure out who everyone is, what's going on and why. This isn't always a bad thing when a film is looking to achieve that and keep you guessing but this isn't the case with Necropolis. This film is quite straight forward right down to weird 80s music video styled dance numbers. Luckily the film does have some nudity for the flesh lovers out there and a few ok physical gore FX but it never really sucks you in. It reminds me a bit of the Dolph Lundgren film Dark Angel (aka I Come in Peace), where the main bad guy simply goes from one killing to the next. Big difference with Dark Angel is that as weird as things are in the film and it's also a bit disjointed, it gives more explanation as to what's going on. Necropolis isn't a fantastic film but it's worth at least one watch if you're into these types of movies. At least it has a pretty killer 80s soundtrack. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Scene two: witch at the altar spontaneously breaks into dance, whence an unidentified man slowly thrusts a knife forward into the camera, supposedly stabbing her. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Necropolis certainly isn't the worst horror film I've seen from the 1980s, but it's pretty damn bad. It's made like a bad 80s metal video. At any given time the girl will stop and just dance. The dialog was awful, it was slow moving. The action was bad. I cannot stress how horrible this movie was. The plot was pretty simplistic as well. This girl worships satan, gets power to control people, then tries to become all powerful... it's crap.
