      Critics Consensus

Essentially a stage production of Malcolm Macdowell musing over his departed friend, and brit director Lindsey Anderson. Macdowell makes for an engaging raconteur, but only for Anderson fans.

Audience Member Not a bad way to kill an afternoon. While this is probably more enticing if you've seen more than a couple of Anderson's films, this isn't bad. Malcolm McDowell gives some fun and interesting stories, worth a couple of laughs. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Good fun to be had with legendary actor Malcolm McDowell as he revisits past memories with legendary director Lindsay Anderson. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member What a great way to host a homage to one of Britain's best directors! A compelling and comic performance by Malcom McDowell and such a unique approach to documentary film-making with Malcom's stand-up routine. This film offers a fascinating insight into the world of cinema in the early 1960's.. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Want to know what a great raconteur sounds like? Watch this film, consisting entirely of Malcolm McDowell telling stories about his mentor, Lindsay Anderson. Other characters appearing include Rachel Roberts, John Gielgud, and Alan Bates. I wish I had seen this live. At times hilarious, at times moving. Recommended even if you don't know Anderson's work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I'd be hesitant to call this cinematic as it's essentially just a filmed talk from Malcolm McDowell about Lindsey Anderson but it is gripping, charming, witty and moving. Recommended, especially for those who loved 'If...' and 'O Lucky Man!'. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Fascinating stage show by Malcolm McDowell. Dave Calhoun Time Out Rated: 4/5 Nov 16, 2011 Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) McDowell's affectionate, mischievous impersonations and clips from Anderson's body of work make for an easy couple of hours.
