What to Know

Critics Consensus

Essentially a stage production of Malcolm Macdowell musing over his departed friend, and brit director Lindsey Anderson. Macdowell makes for an engaging raconteur, but only for Anderson fans.

McDowell's affectionate, mischievous impersonations and clips from Anderson's body of work make for an easy couple of hours. Go to Full Review

An uncinematic form, perhaps, but of absorbing interest to cinema-lovers. Go to Full Review

It's not great cinema, but it's never less than good fun; watch it in conjunction with Anderson's recently published diaries, and you'll get a sense of a unique, irreplaceable and finally very human talent. Go to Full Review

His account of Anderson's demise moves, but by then, this arch-raconteur's bluster may have sand-papered your patience. Go to Full Review

04/28/2012 Not a bad way to kill an afternoon. While this is probably more enticing if you've seen more than a couple of Anderson's films, this isn't bad. Malcolm McDowell gives some fun and interesting stories, worth a couple of laughs. See more 08/30/2011 Good fun to be had with legendary actor Malcolm McDowell as he revisits past memories with legendary director Lindsay Anderson. See more 08/02/2009 What a great way to host a homage to one of Britain's best directors! A compelling and comic performance by Malcom McDowell and such a unique approach to documentary film-making with Malcom's stand-up routine. This film offers a fascinating insight into the world of cinema in the early 1960's.. See more 03/07/2009 Want to know what a great raconteur sounds like? Watch this film, consisting entirely of Malcolm McDowell telling stories about his mentor, Lindsay Anderson. Other characters appearing include Rachel Roberts, John Gielgud, and Alan Bates. I wish I had seen this live. At times hilarious, at times moving. Recommended even if you don't know Anderson's work. See more 01/20/2009 I'd be hesitant to call this cinematic as it's essentially just a filmed talk from Malcolm McDowell about Lindsey Anderson but it is gripping, charming, witty and moving. Recommended, especially for those who loved 'If...' and 'O Lucky Man!'. See more 01/19/2009 Fascinating stage show by Malcolm McDowell. See more Read all reviews
