Phil Hoad Guardian Amid the dumper-truck of post-Covid lockdown-inspired films, very few take disease and pandemics themselves as their central focus. So John Rosman’s stripped-back but effective debut is a sobering flashback to those incubative early days. Rated: 3/5 May 29, 2024 Full Review Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Lovers of hard-core horror with elements of science fiction and allusions to body horror, rejoice. [Full review in Spanish] May 7, 2024 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting It’s not just the complexities of its characters that are compelling, but Rosman’s ability to drop narrative bombs that cataclysmically alter the genre and narrative direction. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 10, 2023 Full Review Cody Allen Geek Vibes Nation New Life revitalizes the zombie genre by infusing it with a profoundly human touch, breathing new life into the archetype and leaving a lasting resonance. Rated: 9/10 Jul 18, 2025 Full Review John Serba Decider In a vacuum, New Life is watchable; properly contextualized, it’s a rock-solid mishmash of thriller and horror elements. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Noah Berlatsky Everything is Horrible (Substack) It’s not a must see. But it’s determination to explore its new skin, with all its wounds, is worth watching if you are interested in zombies, disability, or their ugly, possibly enlightening intersection. Pinoy Short R Sayang oras. Oks sana kaso ang haba ng kinain na oras bago magkaron ng linaw ang kwento. Bitin din ang ending Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/16/25 Full Review Audience Member What started out as intrigue, waiting to learn why this young woman was on the run, turned into massive disappointment with the reveal just over halfway through. It wasn't very believable and neither was the fact that the only person they had on her tail could barely walk. I mean what happened to the two guys that were in her house at the beginning? Why couldn't they hunt her? Just one of the flaws in this concept. The only small mercy was that the film is quite short and, by the time we were let into what this was all about, there wasn't too long left to watch so I just put up with it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/25 Full Review Audience Member Nothing bad about it. Though there’s not a lot of great things about it either. Worth a watch if you’re a fan of thrillers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Avindu G A great all-round approach towards the apocalyptic theme. This is well organized methodical production that covers almost every scenario with a precise amount of details. Though the short run time just below one and half hours this story is very well paced. Great acting by the cast. We've seen many movies on plagues and it's aftermath with little or no details on the outbreak, but this little gem of a movie covers the whole first stage effortlessly. Great visuals and sound effects. Excellent SFX makeup. It's not just the main theme but the human interactions the nature and the nature of lives during a pandemic that's being portrayed and it'll be worth your time most definitely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Dick D I enjoyed everything about this movie from the story, acting, integration of technology, moral and ethical questions, the way characters dealt with major challenges in their life, the cinematography and the soundtrack. I will definitely watch it again to see what I missed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Tim F The story is to obvious the story telling is to linear and not complex enough for such a short movie. but good pictur Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
