Empire Magazine Rated: 2/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Eddie Cockrell Variety A blue chip cast is wasted in the painfully unfunny ensemble comedy Niagara Motel, about a gaggle of self-absorbed nitwits struggling to make ends meet on the Canadian side of the tourist mecca. Mar 24, 2006 Full Review Susan Walker Toronto Star Too many characters and so much plot that no single scenario ever develops into an absorbing drama. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 24, 2006 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid I'm not exactly sure what compelled me to finish watching this so-called "black comedy," which is a little heavy on the black and far too light on the comedy. Mar 6, 2008 Full Review Angela Baldassarre Sympatico.ca An unfunny ensemble that completely wastes the talent gathered and the material it's based on. Mar 29, 2006 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an overly quirky yet strangely compelling drama... Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 26, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member It's one of those quirky flicks that as soon as you watch 5 minutes of it -- you know it's a Canadian movie. The characters are so pathetic and human that they become somehow lovable. Perfect B-Movie lighthearted Summer viewing! (I chuckle to think that Travel Agencies send first-time Scottish Tourists to Niagara Falls -- the tackiest Tourist Trap in all of Canada!) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie just made me want to rewatch Wonderfalls. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I love CF and thought the ending was perfect, but slow moving and kind of 'eh'. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was actually surprised at how much I liked it. At the beginning I thought it had a "Four Rooms" feel but it turned out to be so much more. Niagara Motel takes a much of short but real life stories and strings them together almost seamlessly. A bunch of people, all with messy lives, all staying/working in the same cheesy little motel and restaurant. Although I think Caroline Dhavernas is as cute as a button, I wasn't over impressed with her work. She seemed to play the same role she has before instead of bringing a new character to life. Although she is quite attractive, she couldn't sell me on being a "hot waitress" that men fight over. On the flip side, Anna Friel was wonderful. She was very different from her other roles, this time playing a less than moral, drug addict, mother. I am surprised at how low the ratings for this movie were. Although the individual plots are shot in nature, I found them compelling and believable. If you like movies such as Crash or Intermission, I would tell you to definitely put this on your "to watch" list. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Labeled as a comedy, but I didn't seem to find very many things comedic about it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member It was ok. Had some funny moments and some serious ones. Pollock and Feguson rule the roost in this puppy!
