Trevor Johnston Time Out Expect yet more of the 'neo-Brechtian panache' (i.e. complete technical incompetence) that secured Wood his rep as the very worst of the worst. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader A grade-Z effort. kevin c From director Ed Wood comes this movie about a charlatan who claims to have the power to communicate and raise with the dead, with believers who have been witness to the ghosts at a nearby park. Not a terrible movie, fun with humorous narration. The usual cast of characters including Tor Johnson as the large and terrifying henchman. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave s The beauty of an Ed Wood movie is the fact that you know exactly what you're getting yourself into before the credits even start rolling. Night of the Ghouls is no exception. From a quality perspective, it is certainly on par with other Wood's films (Plan 9 from Outer Space, Glen or Glenda…), but the problem is the fact that it lacks the unintentional laughs that make some of his other films so entertaining. What you're left with here is seventy minutes of annoying characters played by annoying actors reacting to annoying situations, making the whole friggin' thing…well, annoying. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie! A cast correction needed here: The Black Ghost was played by Jeannie Stevens, not Maila Nurmi. Both Jeannie and and Valda Hansen are sights to behold as the ghosts, and the film is the best performance by Paul Marco, ever! And who doesn't love Tor Johnson? See this movie on a double bill with, and as the sequel to, "Bride of the Monster", and have fun! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member If you don't take so serious the art of Ed Wood, this film is hilarious. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are a fan of Ed Wood and bad movies this film is a must see, but if you're just trying to get a feel for Wood's most astoundingly awful material this film is passable. The seance scene is one of Wood's most deliriously bad sequences ever. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Over acting, bad dialogue, technical flaws, flying trumpets on strings, just another "so-bad-its-good" film from Ed Wood.
