The movie is what I prefer to categorize as a popcorn plus movie. It is charming, funny, with great acting, script and good scenery. The movie is full of iconic movie stars, all fulfilling a believable role. The bear special effects where a little lacking, but Clint Walker is definitely believable as someone who is determined to not lose his dream ranch an illustrates possessing's of the pioneer demeanor. Enjoyable movie that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

Here you have suspense ,terror, humor and a wonderful adventure made for everyone! Clint is fine as the pioneer father making a home for his family. Keenan Wynn and Leo Gordon, a great bad guy, are the antagonists ,and a massive bear named Satan, try to destroy the homestead of Big Jim(Clint Walker). The landscape is gorgeous ,with a beautiful score by Leith Stevens.

Solid as well as safe western, which uses a lot of staple themes and storylines within this well led yarn by Clint Walker that includes a man in a bear suit.

Forgettable frontier tale about Clint Walke hanging up his badge to move his family, including wife Martha Hyer, out west, only to find trouble from rich neighbor Keenan Wynn who wants Walker's land and even more trouble from the titular bear. The film probably only deserves two and a half stars, but get's an extra half star for having Jack Elam in it.

The Night of the Grizzly," though it's not a work of deathless cinematic art, is a good example of what entertained us almost forty years ago: a good cast, a serviceable script, modest but not skimpy production values, and direction that builds the tension to a genuine climax, all without fiery explosions and violence that brutalizes its potential audiences
