David Stratton The Australian Night Raiders is visually uninteresting and dramatically underwhelming. Rated: 2/5 Jul 30, 2022 Full Review Phuong Le Guardian Solid performances from Tailfeathers and Letexier-Hart can't elevate a script that is neither effective as straight sci-fi nor a subversion of the genre. Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2021 Full Review Tim Grierson Screen International The dystopian sci-fi drama is approached from a fresh perspective in Night Raiders, a deeply-felt parable about the eradication of indigenous North Americans. Nov 13, 2021 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Goulet imbues her film with a social realist bent to explore the lingering trauma of colonialism, and specifically Canada's residential school system, and the Cree peoples’ unwavering resilience. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Carmen Paddock TAKE ONE Magazine NIGHT RAIDERS never lets up its atmosphere of dread, in large part due to the meticulousness of its worldbuilding. Nov 30, 2023 Full Review Jason Asenap Esquire Magazine Writer-director Danis Goulet's new film shines a light on a raw wound from which Indigenous cultures are still healing. Adrian D I am surprised by the large number of lukewarm reviews here on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is a absolute gem, and I can understand why Waititi was willing to Exec produce it. Yes, it is slow-paced at times, but this is a forgivable matter. The film's poignant messages about past, future, and present redeem it. For anyone who has spent any time interacting with indigenous US and Canadian folks, from this non-indigienous person who has done so, it seems to mesh well with my understanding of indigenous culture. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Jody L Incredible movie and amazing actors. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Johon P Very slow, overrated, the ending is terrible, basically an entire waste of time. And i am usually very lenient on movie critique Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Jeffrey P This made what I felt was a fatal flaw by introducing a duo first and then splitting them up early on. Other films have done it, but if it is done with a known actor it's not seen as a duo. That issue aside, it starts with solid world building, average acting, but proceeds to make a couple unnecessary stops along the way and introduces a whole lotta characters we don’t need to know at the time they are introduced. All of that could have been cut in favor of more rising action being added later on. The ending is completely ridiculous. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review KURT G Starts off promising, but gets more and more lame. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Ryan H I’ve never left a review before. The movie was such a massive disappointment that I just went online to vent, and to see if others had put into words the anger I was feeling to waste 90 minutes of my life. I almost stopped 1/2 way through from boredom, but was invested and thought maybe the ending would be good, or cause anything to make sense. The opposite happened; it was infuriatingly stupid and lazy. Spoiler: the movie decides to be sci-fi in the final seconds and the girl can control drones with her mind. You know, because Native Americans talk to birds. Uhg. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
