      Reviews Gene Autry (Gene Autry), a former Texas Ranger who lost his job when the state police dissolved the Rangers in a power grab, now works for a newspaper with his buddy Pat Buttram (Pat Buttram), investigating criminality inside the police force. Word of their snooping gets to the head of the state police, Gen. Slayden (Robert Livingston), and he orders his men to wipe out Autry and Buttram.
