Fred Topel Nerd Report I highly recommend anyone who liked Console Wars, Atari: Game Over or other retro gaming celebrations watch this too. And if this is your first look back at retro games, let it start your nostalgia all over again. Dec 3, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Teddy B A serviceable enough semi-documentary with an interesting and quite engaging premise to follow through with. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/09/23 Full Review Audience Member So I finally got around to watching this. I actually thought it was pretty disappointing and not that great. And here's why... With all the hype around it for the last few years, I was expecting it to be 30 days of these dudes being on the road hitting up as many shops as they possibly could, frantically trying to collect all the games. It really wasn't that at all. It was more like "Hey, let's take a short road trip and go to a few game stores and our friends houses, and then... oh, I need to go back home and go to work... and then we'll hit the road for a few more days here and there." The dude also didn't really seem like he had any "sense of urgency" nor did he seem that smart about his buying practices. I mean, there was a copy of Stadium Events just waiting for him in Florida, but multiple times he refused to drive down to get it, and he most certainly could have hit a crap load of game stores, swap meets, and other pawn shops along the way. But he couldn't because he had to "go to work." They spent 12 minutes of the movie with the guy being "on the phone" with the guy in Florida. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ For a game he didn't even end up buying!!! #dumb They kept trying to make it all "dramatic" by calling the Stadium Events guy in Florida at 2am trying to get him to sell the game to them through someone else and have that person deliver it, but how different is that really from buying the game on eBay, which was one of the rules that they weren't allowed any online sales. And then when you get to the end and... SPOILER ALERT... he didn't actually collect all the games, when he actually had been to many places that had games he needed, and then turned them down. The entire movie just ended on this weird "downer note." I also couldn't figure out why he was waiting until the last minute to get so many of the games he needed, and it was no shock that he ended up not being able to get all the games. The way they kept leading it up with this dude in Florida that had Stadium Events and a bunch of other rare titles, I really thought in the 11th hour they were going to race down to Florida and get everything they needed. But they didn't. It all just ended on a whimper. In the promos for the film it talks about them driving "10,000 miles" but they really didn't drive THAT far. London, ONT to Houston round trip isn't even 3,000 miles. I mean, I can go from Orlando to Los Angeles, turn around and go back, and then turn around and go back again and still not hit 10,000 miles. So I'm not sure I even believe that number. It also felt really strange to me that they kept interjecting these fairly long "information about games and the industry segments" quite a bit throughout the film. I don't mind a little bit of history, but this almost felt like they had two 45 minute documentaries that they combined into one film. Anyway, I know this movie came out a few years ago, but I only just finally got around to watching it, and I thought it was completely disappointing. It was a nice effort on the part of the filmmakers, but I just couldn't feel connected to any of the guys in it, nor did I think they were making very smart decisions on how to go about this 30-day shopping spree. They all would have totally lost Amazing Race on the first day! 😂🤣 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This was just a hot mess. I can't stress how often Jay comes across as ungrateful, wanting games for next to nothing and openly complaining (even when getting games from friends) when he doesn't get his asking price. Doesn't name his starting budget or how much he spends on games which defeats the purpose of this entire documentary. Randomly breaks into nintendo facts (?). The editing has people making the most out there, left of field comments. Just confusing. Honestly, this was just poorly made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Valiant effort, and at least every game was flashed on screen for the dopamine surge. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth a watch if you are collector of NES games and/or grew up playing the NES. Silly at times, but I enjoyed it. It's surprisingly heart warming at times. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member They don't talk about prices for the game, but instead just include a "budget bar." The haggle, and dealings are not present. Total shame. Could have been much better with that element. Just watch game chasers on youtube. It's funny, and shows all haggling and prices.
