08/24/2009 Surprisingly unbiased and self-aware for the narrator. He hardly spliced in his own opinions and only emphasized the points of the interviewees. He was also strangely and uniquely aware of media and what that means. They do not ignore it and are not afraid of the reality of film. He also incorporates his family and revelations into the film so the audience feels they are going through this journey with him and understand why this matters to him and should matter to us. This is the first documentary I have seen that shows the camera being toted around, the screen during the interview, and camera action outside of cuts. This documentary also contains unique and powerful messages from a diverse group of Nobel laureats that all value knowledge and hope for the future. Graceful and full of revelations. It has a wealth of information, it makes you think, it's nicely displayed, and it inspires you. It makes me wonder why people are going to huge block-buster movies with no plot and terrible acting; They could be watching this! It's just about people. No special effects, nothing fancy, just people talking. People saying important things. Everyone should see this movie. Not because of cinematography, casting or writing but simply because the story was a good one. And I think it might even be true. Interviews with past Nobel laureates (Jody Williams, Sir Joseph Rotblatt, Amayrta Sen, etc.) give viewers information and personal insights into the world's most serious problems. The dialogue is so compelling, so down to earth, one cannot help but want to simply DO something about it. A few cheesy musical montages didn't even factor after I saw the Desmond Tutu interview.
