Critics Consensus

Marvelously orchestrated by director Robert Eggers, Nosferatu is a behemoth of a horror film that is equal parts repulsive and seductive.

Audience Says

What Nosferatu lacks in scares, it makes up for in an atmosphere that's intensified by a spellbound and spellbinding Lily Rose Depp.

Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) [Lily-Rose Depp's] performance is really something else. Feb 11, 2025 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Eggers is trying to do something different than the other movies, but in a sense he's playing into the same overwrought scariness. The film could use a lot more lightness, if you will. Feb 11, 2025 Full Review Danny Leigh Financial Times The film is fine — an artisanal horror made with care and invention. But... what sticks is the Gothic high style: queasy lamplight, small coffins, imperious doctors. All good things in context — but side plates in need of a dripping, rare main course.  Rated: 3/5 Jan 15, 2025 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) The look of “Nosferatu” is the most compelling part of the production. This includes the visuals as presented by Jarin Blaschke who embraces every shadow as if they were actors. Rated: A- Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers Despite the audience’s acquaintance with the source material, Eggers manages to invoke an overwhelming sense of escalating trepidation and morbid curiosity. Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Amanda the Jedi Amanda the Jedi (Youtube) Eggers has a skill for transporting viewers back to the era he's putting to screen, and this is no exception. Nosferatu is haunting, chilling, and downright evil. Feb 18, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

ashlei Could barely understand the spirit. And it wasn’t too clear what was happening until late in the film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Jeremy S Excellent movie. Great cinematography, acting and directing. A vampire movie how it should be. Too many vampire movies like Dracula have become a romantic/horror, which has never made sense to me. They are undead creatures who feed on the living yet too many stories are driven by their love for the main female character, when you think of what a vampire is you don’t think eternal love as their drive, their passion, but rather addiction, lust, sex, control and despair. Nosferatu gives you a vampire movie of exactly that. It’s not really the horror aspects that makes this movie stand out but rather the drama. Even if you’re not a fan of horror, but love well made movies than this a must see and a must own. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/25 Full Review lester beautiful cinematography overall. pretty decent acting , just incredibly slow paced and very boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review edward I still think Herzog’s is the best but I really dug this one. Only real gripe: subtitles are needed to understand most of what Orlok is saying. The voice and accent (which I did like for the most part) kind of muddies the dialogue. The mustache didn’t bother me either (because for some reason that was a big issue for people?). …Gonna be thinking about that ending for a while… Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Mr. Hollywood Not exactly a bad movie just expected more from Eggers. Pretty much a straight forward Dracula story with nothing new added Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Justin Great movie and well directed. A chilling experience!
