J M This is an average TV movie that is a perfect example of the type of movies for television that were popular in the 80s and 90s. A small screen actress, often associated with sitcoms, attempts to spread her wings by tackling dramatic and often timely issues. In this case, we have child molestation, postpartum depression, sibling estrangement and parental neglect - that's a lot to pack in to 90 minutes. To its credit, I do think it handles the material as tastefully as possible, but it has too much going on. And due to the restrictions, I'm assuming a television movie would have at this time, it often feels very pedestrian and safe. I have to admit that I'm drawn to TV movies from this time, even the bad ones. Perhaps I like seeing the filmmakers attempting to portray hot topic issues of the day within the parameters of their time and place. And on a more superficial level, I like watching actors go outside of their norms. I'm sure it must have been a challenge on both ends. I can't give this one a recommendation, but if you like movies-of-the-week like this, you'll probably find yourself wrapped up in the story. - Jeff Marshall, Movie Blogger (Facebook) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tony Scott Variety Linda Otto's direction is deliberate if not inspired. Philip Kleinbart's production design is rich with detail, and the location sites in Charlotte, N.C. , are lovely. Feb 5, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
