it all works surprisingly well, with a new twist or turn to the plot every ten minutes or so and some solid work by the cast (especially Yang Mi (from the Tiny Times series) as the group’s one woman and Yu Qian, as the house owner) keeping things lively.

This crime comedy about four mahjong players who get caught up in theft and kidnapping has too many gimmicky distractions. Manic editing, bizarre sound effects, and constant shouting from the movie's characters add up to very little substance.

The only thing I didn't like was the moving camera at certain points, which made me feel dizzy. Now, putting that aside. It's a simple plot, get the stash of bribes from the official and divide the spoils. However, there is one complication that makes this simple theft something much more serious. As the evening progresses, more information is revealed about how this gang of apparent strangers are connected, and it seems to just get worse and worse for them. How will they all get out of this situation??? The acting is brilliant. The timing and delivery is spot on. I was never bored and it held my interest the entire time, and the film flew by. Highly recommend this one.
