Manuel Betancourt Variety With a too-neat premise rubbing up against a clearly lived-in sense of place, “Notice to Quit” feels like an amiable sitcom pilot set in the New York City of the Safdie brothers Sep 27, 2024 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire Notice to Quit is redeemed by the simple fact of its nature: This isn’t a film that lives in the lows and highs of its defining moments so much as it’s a film that’s sustained by the strength it takes to put one foot in front of the other. Rated: B- Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Screen Rant It has a spark, but it lacks any true heartwarming moments, which are buried beneath a surface-level premise that doesn't engage with vulnerability. Rated: 2/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Simon Hacker keeps the film grounded with realistic characters and situations, although it's more than halfway in before anything meaningful happens. And the constant interruptions and disruptions begin to feel more than a little exhausting. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Li Lai Mediaversity Reviews It’s not the familiar plot that carries this film but Simon Hacker's bursting love letter to working class New Yorkers in all their brash and unscrupulous swagger. Rated: B- Sep 30, 2024 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment Writer/director Simon Hacker has arrived with a debut film set in New York and delivers what feels like the sort of scrappy indie one hopes to enjoy now and again. Jackson Lovely story, beautifully made, go see it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review JP My absolute favorite trip to the theater so far this year. NTQ was twisted and warm, hilarious and depressing, every scene was some sort of juxtaposition of comfort and impending doom. It fits itself right into the classics, a picture of NYC that can stand as the period piece of our generation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Jenna thought this was such a cute movie! My emotions were up and down all throughout - and really made me want to live in NYC. Should I move there now?! The grandpa and daughter were my favorite characters. So cute and funny. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Tracy Not a great story, not great writing, acting mediocore. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Drew Amazing Film! Will be going back to watch again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Cate Notice to Quit is an absolute must-see! The heart-warming plot and outstanding performances evoked laughter and tears. The cinematography captured NYC in all of its glory. Overall, amazing execution and would definitely recommend!
