Dave Trumbore Collider We could sure use a lot more visionaries like DiLiberto and a lot more passion projects like Nova Seed, which are both worthy of your respect and attention. Rated: 4.5/5 Mar 30, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I was lucky enough to see this in a small theatre in Vancouver and it was a truly unique experience. So glad I was able to. The work that has gone into this movie is admirable, but it is also so cool in its own right! Stylish and interesting, if you get an opportunity to watch it, don't pass up on that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh my, yes. We could surely use more of this kind of moebiusian animations. In this particular one everything is on its place: visuals, of course, story, miniature yet epic, and synthwave soundtrack to complete it. If only the voices were not recorded so porely... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a huge fan of 1970s/80s Ralph Bakshi/Heavy Metal style animated movies. Nova Seed fills that void like nothing else I've encountered since that era. It's especially captivating and inspiring when you realize it was entirely hand-animated by a single person over a period of four years. Just, wow. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for this movie. <3 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member In a future dystopia, Doctor Mindskull has been launching attacks on the cities using remote control monsters. The authorities enlist a bioengineered lion/human hybrid manufactured for gladiatorial combat to enter Mindskull's lair and put a stop to his plans. The lion-guy has plans of his own, and absconds with Mindskull's Nova Seed, a humanoid creature who can create plant life, in an effort to defeat Mindskull on his own. From here, things get a lot weirder. This immensely creative sci-fi fantasy feature was hand animated by Canadian animator Nick DiLiberto over a 4 year period. It's very much like a Saturday morning cartoon meets Heavy Metal magazine, and I thought it was quite wonderful. It shows an immense amount of promise for this young animator who previously worked on video game animations for Bioware. Besides animating the film and doing some of the voice work, DiLiberto created many of the film's sound effects just using his own vocalizations. If you like wild, sci-fi animation, you need to see this. Stephen Verrall's pulsing synth score is another highlight. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
