Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com There are some disappointing choices in the film's directing, but Castillo should make a lot of those easy to overlook. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 29, 2023 Full Review Teo Bugbee New York Times It’s hard to care about Mía’s efforts to survive when coincidence drives the plot, and the production looks and feels cheap. Sep 28, 2023 Full Review Paul Mount Starburst Nowhere is something of an ordeal, and whilst it’s not a film anyone is likely to say they enjoyed, it’s impossible not to admire the artistry with which it’s been made and the sometimes well-hidden spirit of survival it grimly celebrates. Rated: 4/5 Nov 3, 2023 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media This high-concept thriller sets itself up for a tough challenge but manages to maintain momentum and avoid many lulls through solid acting and just enough surprises. Rated: 3/5 Oct 11, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Anchored by a gutsy lead performance from Anna Castillo, "Nowhere" takes its audience on a journey that can be as inspiring as it is ridiculous. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2023 Full Review Enid Román Almansa Cinemanía (Spain) A nice thriller for Anna Castillo and another success for Netflix. Sarfaraz A Ernest Riera, Miguel Ruz, Indiana Lista, Seanne Winslow, and Teresa Rosendoy wrote the script for this Spanish survival movie, which was directed by Albert Pintó. Anna Cositllo plays the lead role. The film is set in a dystopian Spain where the democratic government has been deposed and a lack of resources for humanity has prompted the military junta to pursue cruel tactics of cleansing the old, children, and pregnant women. A few people attempt to move out and seek refuge in Ireland, Norway, or other European countries that appear to have stuck to civilian rule. Mia (Anna) is one such pregnant woman, accompanied by her husband, who boards a container full of other humans attempting to flee the country, but they are ambushed and massacred by military fascists, but Mia cleverly avoids the carnage and is now alone in the container. The container drifts off the merchant ship into the ocean, where she must live after giving birth to a baby girl. The film opens with gripping sequences from the start. The acting is good, and the story is developing well. There are no sea scares here, but claustrophobia within the container should be enough to scare the viewers. A giant whale is now and then thudding into the container but causing no harm or posing a threat to the survivors. It's an good film with nothing that will make you want to skip it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Cindy W I should have known from reading the synopsis that it was not going to be good, but I fell for the high ratings. This is one of the worst movies I have seen and totally unbelievable. Don't waste your time on this one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Romeu C The movie doesn’t deserve the time that you are going to spend it! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Reya K This is one of the most horrible movies of this decade. It doesn't have a compelling plot and rather frustrating to watch. Absolutely unrealistic scenes. Wouldn't recommend it to even the worst enemy. Absolutely irritating and waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review J C This was an excellent movie with strong acting. A true story of survival that keeps one at the edge of their seat throughout the film. It is quite nail biting at points. However, I would have switched up the ending just a little bit if I was the director. The ending almost seemed too fairly tail to me for the overall tone of the movie. But other than that an excellent movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Bryan P A true star in the making. Her performance was amazing and taught us that as long as you believe it, you will survive. Loved the movie, love Miss Castillo ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
