Audience Member Very Lifetime movie... Not sure how it made it to DVD. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member You say you want them, well here's one...an African American drama, dealing with real issues, positive (and realistic) role models (a little sappy at times), but with no buffoonery, and no shallow black women. Robert Townsend has been doing this for years...he get's better with time, yet he still doesn't get nearly enough recognition. But I have to warn you: keep your Kleenex handy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film about how different family members cope with grief. Angela Bassett portrays the mother killed in a traffic accident, leaving her husband (played by Robert Townsend), a workaholic, to raise their three children. The fact that the kids are far apart in age presents interesting storylines as each are also contending with personal issues, such as career and peer pressure. The movie also addresses the subject of sexual abuse in a sensitive manner. The screenplay, acting, and directing are all top-notch. This film should be shown in all middle and high schools. Bill Lee, Author of "Chinese Playground" and "Born to Lose" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie .. in love with the song "for a reason ".....shows unique relationships and contemplated emotional triumphs Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member wonderful message about family. Get the tissue Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member An urban 'After School Special' Townsend should have passed on...than I would have to.
