While it may not belong in the upper ranks of cinematic queer love stories, Of an Age is a moving romance elevated by powerhouse performances.

Though the ending of Of an Age is dismayingly abrupt, much of what’s come before is sweet and erotic and wise about the fits-and-starts process of coming out -- chiefly to oneself. Go to Full Review

...the male performances are of the first order and the screenplay is sensitive and intelligent — you hope that Stolevski will go on to make even better movies in the future. Go to Full Review

Director Goran Stolevski seamlessly transitions from a rocking, rollicking teen romp to a thoughtful, if slight, meditation on the beauty and peril of romanticization. Go to Full Review

OF AN AGE seems less engaged in rearranging the mechanical gears in characters’ lives for one romantic endeavor to survive and more into the ebb and flow of growth and setbacks. In Stolevski’s world, conflicts and emotion float in a dreamlike state. Go to Full Review

This is one of the most important Australian films to be released in recent years. Not only does it clearly show that Stolevski is one of the most promising young directors around but it brings some very important social issues to the forefront. Go to Full Review

Stephen S 03/02/2023 Moderately enjoyable if fairly routine, familiar comedy romance. Cast is spirited and efficient (especially Julia Harari). Time-jump in the last 1/3 was mishandled, setting up a weak ending. Bright dialogue is diluted by the thick-accented slang-heavy exchanges which are often hard to follow, making it likely to be better enjoyed on video with subtitles (just sayin'!). See more Steven 02/28/2023 Loved the story of realistic emotion. Not about sex, its about LOVE. See more Cesar 02/26/2023 Amazing and beautiful See more Chester D 02/26/2023 Beautiful movie, deeply emotional story, great acting, electric chemistry See more Lee 02/26/2023 Taking this movie in the context of a low budget production and knowing what their other films are like, I thought it was alright. It has a few unrealistic plot holes but tells a story about a closeted gay dancer who wastes much of his life hiding from himself. Spoiler Alert: it doesn't come to a definitive conclusion so if making up an ending isn't your thing this might not be the film for you. See more Kirsten Mc 02/25/2023 Great characters in a heartbreaking story. Leads have fantastic chemistry and a a believable connection. Cinematography gives an almost claustrophobic intimacy.
