Ty Burr Boston Globe A patient, slightly stiff, often intensely moving portrait of a girl who believes her choices are literally black and white. Rated: 3/4 Apr 1, 2010 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times The director, Nicole Opper, makes space for the complexities of transracial adoption without forcing her film into a predetermined, inspirational box. Rated: 3/5 Jan 29, 2010 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post As the father of an adopted daughter, I was very moved. But the film is so well done that just about anybody will have that feeling. Rated: 3/4 Jan 29, 2010 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Part coming-of-age story and part psychological exploration. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 18, 2020 Full Review Adam Lippe Examiner.com Off and Running is so careful about being non-judgmental, that it dares you to judge it for being too diverse and multi-cultural. Audience Member Emotionally involving documentary about adoption and the search for birth parents. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member really interesting doc of adoptive families. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Avery comes from a loving family nicknamed The United Nations. Her search and contact with her birth mother causes Avery to fall into a downward spiral. Thankfully she manages to pull herself out of it but the journey is long and painful. A fascinating look at a modern American family and the obstacles they face. Thank goodness for diversity. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Tough and beautiful Eye Opener 'Documentary' really! great really subtle smartly executed! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Very close look at the life of a young black Jewish teen in New York city. Never thought I'd ever say that in my life. This young girl has great composure and is very sure of her self, all the while looking for her identity. I was getting more into it as the story progressed, and then a turn for the worse. Just as life was knocking at the door the film ended. So I guess it left me wanting more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie is so funny. Cyndi Lauper makes this movie worthwhile! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
