Audience Member meh; it's what you think it'll be. predictable & cheesy. but cute, nonetheless. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member just a bit interesting, very predictable but the beginning was interesting and then too predictable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Colonialist claptrap with that same dumb She's All That plot and who in New Mexico would eat a raw bare chile with a yuppie drizzle of sauce? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This was enjoyable from start to finish. The best part about it, over all, is it's simplicity. That might sound like a negative but not at all! It's not full of over the top, dramatic and/or embellished misunderstandings, like darn near all story lines in movies AND television. Instead, they have actual conversations based off real hurt feelings and appropriate reactions from both points of view. The only thing that gives you the "yeah right, whatever" type feelings come from it suggesting a restaurant that sells FIVE tacos for $0.99 (cheaper than Taco Bell even!) would be any sort of competition or threat to a woman that puts so much passion into her special recipes. That they would have scientists extensively, much less at all, working in a lab in order to recreate blah blah blah. Thankfully that's just a quick scene but silly. Anyway, Off The Menu is well worth your time, enjoyable and refreshing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is best seen by people who love to cook, and especially those who love to cook Mexican food. Or maybe just those who like to EAT Mexican food. It's not a GREAT movie, but the food photography is slobber-inducing. It's a story with which you are SO familiar that I don't hesitate to share it, since five minutes into the film you'll recognize the entire plot [SPOILER ALERT]: B ingratiates himself with A (B is always male, A is always female) because A has something he wants. B and A fall in love. A discovers B's duplicity, kicks him out. B finally figures out that he wants/loves A more than anything else, and returns/repents. A takes him back. You know, THAT movie! We've all seen THAT movie several times. But I think this film succeeds pretty well with that predictable plot. I think B's part (Santino Fontana) was poorly cast, although A (Dania Ramirez) is terrific. But the most delightful part of the movie is the roll of the Ramirez character's twelve-year-old daughter (played by Makenzie Moss) who is absolutely adorable and precocious. My mouth still waters with lust for some of the New Mexico cuisine shown in the movie. I would watch the film a second time just for the food scenes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Boring, the actors have a very fake mexican accent in spanish, when the main actress is talking to her daughter about her great great great great grand father (that will be around 150 to 200 years ago or may be more) the scene of her descendant (probably in the 1800's) does not match with the time frame, they are modern wood boxes of fruit empty on the scene and also the way they are dressed does not correspond to the 19th century, it looks more like todays mexican outfit and even the hats are contemporary Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
