William Schwartz HanCinema At first glance, probation officer in training isn't really a very strong film premise. And at second glance it...still isn't much of a film premise. Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider Officer Black Belt definitely gets its fists and kicks in with an engaging Kim Woo-bin as Lee Jung-do, the world’s most eager crimefighting martial arts enthusiast. But ultimately it’s the film’s heart that really shines through. Sep 18, 2024 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media There's an odd disconnect between the tone of the movie and its content largely because the story focuses so heavily on child predators and protecting children from child abuse. Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Charles Hartford But Why Tho? A Geek Community Officer Black Belt does a surprisingly good job balancing its fun opening with its darkly themed back half. Rated: 8/10 Sep 14, 2024 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut There’s a problem with Officer Black Belt, a well-intentioned Netflix movie about an athletic idealist punching and kicking recidivism out of South Korean criminals – it’s boring. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 13, 2024 Full Review James Marsh South China Morning Post The action never threatens to surprise or break free from established formulas, but within its carefully contoured constraints, the results are enthusiastically entertaining. Ana B This movie felt like a rollercoaster! It's really good tho: it made me laugh, it made me emotional, it made me anxious... Totally recommend it! The fighting scenes are also very satisfying to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Selenge S It's a really great movie. I wish the main character was real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Mama M Μαλακα τι ταινιαρα ήταν αυτή. Αξίζει να τη δείτε!! Πολύ ωραία πλοκή, οι ηθοποιοί απίστευτοι,μπράβο τους όχι μπράβο τους!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Jarvi M While the film offers an entertaining and lighthearted experience, the relaxed tone of the group of friends clashes with the gravity of the villains' crimes. While the protagonists approach crime-fighting with an almost carefree attitude, the villains commit brutal acts that should generate greater shock and indignation. This discrepancy creates a disconnect that prevents the audience from fully engaging with the story and its characters. Further development of the emotional consequences of the crimes would have contributed to a greater dramatic impact. Additionally, the film's soundtrack often feels mismatched to the mood of the scenes, undermining their weight and emotional impact. The music frequently fails to complement the action or drama unfolding on screen, diminishing the intensity and gravity of the situations. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review David W South Korea really are producing some excellent watching these days. This is a hugely enjoyable film which is very well acted by the entire cast and has a genuine sense of heart. The lead, Kim Woo-bin, is particularly likeable both as a dramatic actor and a martial artist. I'll be watching out for more starring him in the future. Given the subject matter it doesn't allow itself to get too dark and the humour is well judged. Definitely recommend this and who knows, hopefully a sequel is in the works. Come on Netflix, you know it's makes sense. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Fatima A The movie is literally amazing. If you are looking for a film full of action then this is a must see. The cast is great, the acting is amazing. Towards the end of the film, you can feel the emotion of the officer as well as the child. Great performance by the casts and also the team who helped put up such a great film. A highly recommended from my side of you are into action films. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
