Jae-Ha Kim Jae-Ha Kim (Substack) "Officer Black Belt" is an action-packed thriller starring Kim Woo-bin. Is it predictable? Yes? But is it a fun watch? Absolutely! Written by Jason Kim ("Midnight Runners," "Bloodhounds"), this film depicts what a man can do when given the chance. Rated: 3/4 Mar 28, 2025 Full Review William Schwartz HanCinema At first glance, probation officer in training isn't really a very strong film premise. And at second glance it...still isn't much of a film premise. Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider Officer Black Belt definitely gets its fists and kicks in with an engaging Kim Woo-bin as Lee Jung-do, the world’s most eager crimefighting martial arts enthusiast. But ultimately it’s the film’s heart that really shines through. Sep 18, 2024 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media There's an odd disconnect between the tone of the movie and its content largely because the story focuses so heavily on child predators and protecting children from child abuse. Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Charles Hartford But Why Tho? A Geek Community Officer Black Belt does a surprisingly good job balancing its fun opening with its darkly themed back half. Rated: 8/10 Sep 14, 2024 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut There’s a problem with Officer Black Belt, a well-intentioned Netflix movie about an athletic idealist punching and kicking recidivism out of South Korean criminals – it’s boring. Jhosep G The movie has a good plot, and the acting is on spot. My problem is with how they banalize the theme they're treating. Something as serious as child abuse gets lost in the, sometimes, unnecessary fight choreographies they perform. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review JAMES S The worst part is definitely the pacing, we already get a full premise not even an hour into. The film I feel like they should have slowed things down a bit more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/25 Full Review Tina Caitlyn L My husband and I first started watching this because it seemed fun and light-hearted, but about half an hour through the movie there are some dark things going on often including s*****assault against women and children, The way Netflix advertised this was done in poor taste. They made it seem like a light-hearted movie when in reality the whole backstories of all these criminals are very dark and physically violent, especially to women and children. Topics like child po******phy , r**e and pedophelia where strewn throughout this movie. If you are sensitive to a topic like this. This is not a comedic action film like it was advertised to be. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Ciera H This movie is corny at times and at others dark. This drama covers a killer but also men who want to harm women and girls heavily. It is a hard watch but has many ups and downs. If you can handle talk about SA and even the abduction of a girl, the movie is worth a watch. This had my husband and me on our seats more than once. When we though someone was the Death Omen we were wrong. So very very wrong. This movie had me hiding and upset at things. I yelled and was distraught. Yet If your husband is the type to talk during movies at home and likes to voice when he thinks what is going on, I suggest that you watch this by your self. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Galmaa A This was such a surprise for me. First half was so light-hearted fun, then second half was really dark. Though, the film handled very well this dark subject. Kudos!!! The main actor was super good! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Ana B This movie felt like a rollercoaster! It's really good tho: it made me laugh, it made me emotional, it made me anxious... Totally recommend it! The fighting scenes are also very satisfying to watch.
