It’s amazing to see how far Kunjakko has transformed since Aniyathi Prav. I hope we get to see more film like this from him. Chakochan is a perfect fit for a disturbed police officer.

A solid production marking a bigger image of Malayalam cinema across the globe, Officer on Duty has superbly proved its mettle in its seat grabbing suspense-thriller storyline, experienced direction, soothing songs, demonic antagonists and pretty styled display of overused concept of policing and its associated challenges.
The movie has definitely compelled me to ask some very need-of-the-hour questions like the dreaded repercussions of revenge and its over-romaticization in the society only to the latter gradual fall; the extended scope of revenge takers only resulting in their self-plight and society's troubles; the extend of rehabilitation services provided to correct criminals and abused.
The main lead protagonists weren't used to their actual acting capacity as much as the unknown faces of antagonists were able to leave their acting imprint into my heart praying for their death witnessing their cruel and demonic acts. Also, the Hindi dubbing wasn't good at all as if it was done half-heartedly.
The movie vividly leaves the message of how society and its existing villains are responsible for making new villains directly or indirectly. The line between an innocent and criminal is only that the latter's crime is being caught and the former's hasn't yet.
It is a must watch movie especially for all children, and their parents/guardians.

Officer On Duty Movie Review: A crime thriller that revisits violence against women.
Jithu Ashraf’s Officer on Duty is a crime thriller that thrives on the disturbing realities of violence, drugs, and abuse—particularly against women and children. Kunchacko Boban plays Senior Officer Hari, who returns to duty after a traumatic break, only to be thrown into an investigation that drags him deep into a horrifying world of crime spanning Kerala and Bengaluru. What starts as a routine case quickly unravels into a dark network of drug trafficking, sex crimes, and brutal exploitation. With Nayattu fame Shahi Kabir penning the screenplay, the film packs in tension, action, and a chilling sense of realism.
The film’s technical finesse heightens its impact. Roby Varghese Raj’s cinematography captures the grittiness of the underworld with raw, moody visuals, while Jakes Bejoy’s background score builds an atmosphere of dread. Chaman Chakko’s sharp editing keeps the tension high, and Sankaran A.S.’s immersive sound design ensures the film’s horrors feel disturbingly real.
Performances add to the intensity. Kunchacko Boban delivers a gripping portrayal of a cop weighed down by trauma yet determined to crack the case. Vishakh Nair and his gang exude an eerie menace, embodying the ruthless predators that fuel the film’s nightmarish world.
But here’s the unsettling truth—this is yet another crime thriller that feeds on the horrors inflicted upon women and children. Assault, abuse, and sexual violence drive the narrative, reinforcing the familiar trope: women as victims, men as aggressors, and the ever-righteous male cop seeking justice. The film does not hold back in its depiction of brutality, forcing the audience to confront the darkest corners of crime. But it also raises an uncomfortable question—why does mainstream cinema keep returning to the same formula? Are we so desensitized to violence against women that it has become a storytelling staple?
While Officer on Duty is a gripping, well-crafted thriller that keeps viewers on edge, it also serves as a stark reminder of how crime films continue to exploit the suffering of women for shock value. The film may entertain, but it also demands reflection—how much longer will we keep witnessing the same cycle of violence on screen?

Officer on Duty is a great example of how you can make a story about something petty like stealing a gold chain to a chain full of heinous crimes. It’s a great movie from the storytelling to the action scenes. And the best part, the acting performances from the actors. Overall, it’s a very gripping 2-and-a-half hours thriller that definitely deserves to be your next watch.
