Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Oh, God! Book II qualifies as a sequel only because of its title and the irreplaceable presence of George Burns in the title role. Otherwise, it seems to have lost faith in the film it's based on. Rated: 2/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The laziest kind of sequel. Audience Member Silly as hell continuation of the story. It just repeats most of the themes of the original, with the ridiculous gimmick of instead using a child as the central character. Sure, the first movie was a family affair, but this goes full out Kids movie, and a corny one at that... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/22 Full Review Audience Member Even a child can lead us to believe George Burns returns as that lovable man upstairs in the follow up to the 1977 hit This time God visits a little girl named Tracy with a divorced mom and dad Newcomer Louanne now has the task of spreading his message to everyone Most people don't think of God these days still, they still need reminding so Tracy has the job of coming up with a clever slogan Obviously everyone else thinks she's losing her mind saying she's imaging things or going through a phase But Tracy isn't going to give up The movie has more of an 80s childlike quality to it which makes sense a larger demographic would be able to identify with her in this scenario I also love that it reaches a more global audience as Tracy's influence starts to take effect inspiring many as well as stirring others Sometimes you just have to believe even if you can't see something, people can remember the miracles but forget why they happen Even God makes mistakes, some things can't be grasped and joy and pain go hand in hand, you take one away the other has to go, there's a lot on the meaning of faith and the limit of psychiatry Children do have a firmer grip on reality although many adults would prefer to look the other way Louanne is such a treat to watch and Burns is lovable as always guiding a younger person this time The parents are actually likable here too and I did smile a few times Sure the first movie is better but this I would say is a cute innocent adorable follow-up to the 1977 hit I appreciate that this has a more triumphant ending as well Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member you guys all charge so i say 0 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member ok sequel with GR* Burns back as the big Man. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Horror he burns, you've done it again. As a funny man as a great actor. Wach it again and again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member If God does exist, he would never let anyone make a sequel this bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
