This movie was awful and not in the least bit funny. They couldn't have a worst storyline or cast. Dennis Leary is just not a "father" figure to be cast as the dad. The "kids" chosen were awful. The whole premise was stupid and other then some christmas decorations, I didnt find it to be categorized as a christmas movie, nor a comedy. Im so pissed I wasted my time watching this.

After watching and then being bombarded with advertising (after Christmas), I felt the need to warn people this thing is awful. It could have been a cute concept but it was more misery and a total downer. Not one character will you like. It was so bad that I actually created an account to do this review. You've been warned

I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to movies but this was AWFUL! There was not a single character that was likable character. It felt like a Wes Anderson twist on a Hallmark movie and it totally didn’t work. This did not feel like a modern day family but one from the 80s with a few modern aspects like the gay daughter. The theme of the movie is outdated! Michelle Pfieffer plays the traditional nuclear family’s mom who still does EVERYTHING For her family. That’s a lovely idea but not realistic. Plus her accent was horrible! Then she runs away because her family doesn’t appreciate her. She is so repressed! This isn’t the typical modern family! Could anyone relate to this movie? I certainly couldn’t and I’m at a similar stage in life as the main character.

Utter rubbish. Missed opportunity to (hilariously) make the point that mums are awesome at Christmas (instead of going to some crappy motel and having an equally bad time elsewhere). Boring, utterly unlikeable characters and a waste of my time, likely yours too.
