Michael S Oildale is a great movie. While it's a low budget production, the actors, storyline, cinematography, and music are superb. In a world of CGI, computer animation, and $100 million dollar film budgets, the principles that created Oildale give hope that the magic of real-life storytelling is still alive and well. My only critique, was that the beginning should have started in WWII, in the middle of battle. That tension would have perfectly released with the current opening shot of the family house, with the barren dusty backdrop of a quiet Bakersfield. The ending was unpredictable, and leads the audience to believe there will be an Oildale 2? I hope so and highly recommend this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
