It digs into some of the difficult conversations of our moment in time with real knifes-edge skill, and because it does so with a couple of surprisingly effective and believable performances at its center from relative newcomers Go to Full Review

A lot of good intentions muddled in what would’ve been an award-winning play about 20 years ago. Go to Full Review

It's a small film, but though its goals are modest, it hits all of them with confidence. There's a certain feeling of being taken care of that comes with watching a piece that knows what it's about. Go to Full Review

Though Old Flame has sharp writing built into cat-and-mouse suspense, the film devolves into a predictable ending.  Go to Full Review

The film oh-so nearly has the audacity to really push some of the genuinely challenging and unsettling realities around sex, memory and consent from different perspectives. Go to Full Review

Proof positive that all you need to make a film is a compelling narrative and a committed cast, Old Flame is tense and uncomfortable, but at the same time utterly absorbing. Go to Full Review

Bisquiteen T @RT65021124 Apr 17 I understand that there are reasons not to like this movie. I hate, thoroughly HATE HATE HATE the trope of "prey becomes predator, it's deserved." I hate it. But I don't think that was going on here. I think Rachel's life has basically been ruined and she just doesn't care anymore. There's valuable insight in this film as to why Rachel is so full of hate, so full of rage, so full of violence. The dialogue, much more important than visuals or anything else in the film, is well-written, and I do hate the idea that someone would see this and think "dude got what he deserved," but I would hope that other watchers are slightly more cognizant of how complex themes work in media. The performances are perfect for this type of film (more play than film, really, but excellently done). Yes, it's uncomfortable. It should be. One of the laziest movies ever. See more Read all reviews
