CJ Sheu Critics at Large Despite my enjoyment, I must concede that making the dozens of viewers in my position the target audience can hardly be called a sound adaptation strategy. Aug 7, 2025 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” felt like a mashup of “Train to Busan” (2016), “Squid Game,” “The Hunger Games” franchise and “Snowpiercer” (2013) except packaged for a younger audience by being less graphic and more obvious with its messaging. Aug 5, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy wants to be a clever sci-fi/fantasy film with meta references, but it's incoherent and has drab characters. It's about people trying to survive a terribly explained web novel that comes to life. The action is poorly staged. Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness If one can shed the similarities from their mind and go in as openly as possible, "The Prophecy" is a marvelous fantasy adventure wherein one’s entertainment is about as limited as your respective imagination. Rated: 4/5 Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A visually dazzling, but over-produced, exhausting and tedious sci-fi action adventure. Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy would probably work better as a video game rather than as a movie. Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space The Omniscient Reader Viewpoint series (ORV to its legion of fans) created complex heroes and heroines, imagined a new South Korea into vivid life, brought emotional depth and socio-political complexity to genre storytelling. The film adaptation…doesn’t. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Luka The movie was absolutely phenomenal!! Loved the plot and story progression. Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Min Ho are incredible to see star together. This was my first movie to see in Korean and in theaters. I hope to see more of their work on the big screen. I look to own this movie on dvd when its available. 333 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review An C. I never read the webtoon. All I read was the synopsis and trailer. I watched this to support Ahn Hyo Seop in his first film. Boy, was he amazing. Everyone was amazing. The actions scenes, WOW! Everyone is complaining about the CGI, but I thought they were well done. This was such a great movie. I was so disappointed it wasn't longer. Even if it wasn't a perfect adaptation like people are complaining, it was still very well made. Would watch again! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/25 Full Review Brandi This is so well done! I really enjoyed this live action. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Victoria Loved the movie and the actors! Will watch again today :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Viki Movie is a mix of Squid game and some Apocalyptic movies already seen. Targets younger audience, Story is missing a depth, characters and their motivations were not developed sufficiently. All actors gave their best, following the script they were given. I would single out LMH , Nana, and a little boy for the best performances , I gave movie 3.5 stars, because it was entertaining enough. I believe, that 10-12 episodes drama would be more suitable for this genre. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review A I have been a fan of the ORV novel for years and I was a bit nervous about this movie but I LOVED it. There was a lot that was changed, characters that felt different, plot points that were combined or removed or switched. But this wasn't ever going to be the book. Instead what we got was a bombastic, hilarious, tense, incredible action-fantasy flick built on the framework of the novel's plot and setting. The actors for Dokja and Huiwon were especially phenomenal and I loved the new action setpieces that were added to the film. What they were able to keep from the novel was wonderfully adapted nd most of the changes they made worked well for a movie format. Some of my favorite book scenes were missing, but others were so well-executed that I cheered out loud in the theater. And the movie gave me NEW favorite scenes as well. There were even a lot of un-commented-on easter eggs for readers in the audience, like the use of probability, or the nebulas shaped like eyes, or the conversation Dokja remembers at the final wall. This movie wasn't the novel, but I am so grateful that it took a different track, tried something new, and that we got the movie we did. I really really hope this film does well enough that we can get a sequel because I would love to see how the movie's story develops next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Read all reviews
