r 9 Enjoyable, even if it is undeniably sexist. I remember discovering the television series of 'On the Buses' when I was younger, via my grandparents, and loving it - admittedly at an age of not fully understanding the humour et al. I do remember watching this just about. It's amusing, nothing laugh-out-loud worthy but it's suitably entertaining. Reg Varney, Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis are a very good trio. Lewis' Blakey is arguably the good guy, despite being portrayed as the antagonist - especially in this plot, given he's the supporter of women bus drivers. I gotta say, Grant's Jack is incredibly creepy. The things you don't notice as a kid, eh? It does have charm, helped by it giving a nice exterior snapshot of 1960s/70s England and the buses of the time. The film, and series, is always most enjoyable - at least to me - when they are out on the road with the buses. Obviously misogynistic and all rather dumb, but there are things it does reasonably well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Those who have watched the TV show "On the Buses" are bound to like this. The characters and predicaments are similar to those seen on TV (with a few scenes directly borrowed, but the movie plays them very well and puts an original spin on things). The story here is whole, unlike in the first "On the Buses" movie; the plot progresses nicely and has a satisfactory arc. Stan Butler (Reg Varney) gets into a bit of trouble after promising his "bird" Sally that they would get married. However, Sally won't get married before they have a place of their own, and so Stan has to come up with ways to get more money - especially when his mother is strongly against his son flying the coop and leaving the rest of them to struggle, especially when Stan's brother-in-law becomes unemployed. Every character gets their moments to shine in this one, there are some truly enjoyable moments of comedy and creativity, and the spirit of the buses is definitely there from start to finish. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member not as good as first on the buses film worth a free look if you see it on TV has a few funny moments in it Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member So the series goes on in its 1970s lack of PC attitudes and sexist remarks. Its a pretty bog standard flick that is only interesting because of its horribleness. Bob Grant stands out. He's such a vile looking pervert that i just get drawn to him. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member ok movie but I don't think I'll watch it again, it was a ok movie but thought the first on the buses film in 1971 was the best, it starred Reg Varney, Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis, I don't want this film on DVD Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Classic comedy from a bygone era. Nothing much more to say about this really. The humour is still funny and the acting is pretty good and it just reminds you of a time when life seemed so much less stressful.
