David Fear Rolling Stone [An] undeniably moving, unsettling film... Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 15, 2021 Full Review Louise Rugendyke Sydney Morning Herald Their stories have not been told. It's shocking to hear, yet so obvious. And that's what makes On the Record such a compelling watch -- it lays out in the clearest possible terms the ramifications for black women who dare to stand up. Aug 26, 2020 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review It is told with conviction and rigorous honesty... Aug 19, 2020 Full Review Chauncey K. Robinson People's World It wrangles with the intersectionality of race and gender when it comes to Black women being believed and supported in the face of harassment and sexism. It isn’t a comfortable film to watch, but a necessary one. Rated: A Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Jennifer Bisset CNET On the Record is another important contribution to the movement, giving visibility to voices that have struggled to be heard, and inspiration for more to speak out. steven b It seems to me that the person that should be lauded for their visionary contribution to R&B/Hip Hop in the 90's is Drew Dixon. Drew's bravery allowed for other women to tell their truth about the sexual abuse they endured at the hands of predatory men in positions of power. Wearing Rudraksha beads & saying your "spiritual" doesn't atone you of the evil things that you've done.....KARMA. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Must watch for everyone. Bravo Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Reminds me of another record review. Shit sandwich. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Movie. You literally watch a woman (Drew Dixon among MANY others) discover their voice therefore discovering their place in the world again as they brave sharing their scars for the world to see. The fact that Oprah dropped out of this is baffling to me. Whatever her issue was with the "artistic direction" was not worth trying to shelf the truths of these women.
