Dentist Biff Grimes (Gary Cooper) meets an old acquaintance, Hugo Barnstead (Neil Hamilton), and recalls bitterly that, years ago, Hugo eloped with Virginia (Fay Wray), the woman Biff loved. Although Biff subsequently married sweet Amy (Frances Fuller), he has secretly dreamed of Virginia and overlooked Amy's steadfast devotion. Since his fractious relationship with Hugo resulted in his imprisonment for two years, Biff considers revenge, but is surprised when thoughts of Amy intrude.

Audience Member People have probably heard of Gary Cooper (although my kids and grandkids claim not to), and Fay Wray is a little more identifiable because of her King Kong status, but Neil Hamilton is by far the most well known star of this film today, having survived three seasons of the camp "Batman" series on ABC-TV in the 1960s. The show is still being shown and is readily available on YouTube. In this film, Cooper exhibits his normal shortcomings, but also displays his natural charm. The other actors do a fine job. This movie captures your attention and holds it well.
